D15: Nikko
It's more a village than a city. One long street from the railway station to the mountain where the shrines and temples are located. Nikko has its own spring water and you can fill in bottles for free everywhere.
On the way to the mountain, a traditional red bridge.

Once again, what I love the most is the garden. This garden is beside the Temples house of treasures and on the other side of Rinnoji temple.
More than the beauty I like the quietness, even the wiseness of the place, the feeling of peace. It's difficult to describe but the place is just magic.

From the garden you have the choice between a road or a path to go to the different shrines and temples. The most famous are the Togoshu complex (the mausoleum of Tokugawa leyasu, a powerfull personality of Japan in the 15th century) and the Rinnoji temple (most important Nikko's temple founded by the bouddhist monk Shodo Shonin in the 8th century).
