Venelite

This is a song from my favorite Danish band, Sorten Muld. Of course it's perhaps a be a bit difficult to understand since it's in Danish. I discovered this group thanks to a Danish friend of mine the very 1st year I was in Denmark and didn't understand the lyrics  either. I learnt some Danish by reading the text. But anyway, I almost never listen to the lyrics when I listen a song. I care much more about the music (unless lyrics are completely stupids or agressives, then I don't listen at all.)

Lyrics

 Venelite / Venelite

Venelite rider ud fra sin faders gård
da ser hun bjergkongen frem for hende står
- Tiril liril lilil haugjen min

- Tiril liril lilil haugjen min
og de leged så let gennem lunden -
- Tiril liril lilil haugjen min
og hun kalder så sagte i vinden -
Venelite rides out of her father's yard
and sees the Mountain King standing before her
 Tiril liril lilil haugjen min
and they played so lightly through the grove

"Listen now Venelite to what I have to say
You are to follow me to my mountain home"

So they rode through the long dark forest
and Venelite wept as the Mountain king laughed

Then three times they did circle the mountain
and the mountain opened to let them in

He set before her mead and wine
"Drink now, Venelite, forget your father and mother"

By the third glass of mead
Venelite had forgotten her father's farm and her faith

In the mountain you have been captured,
In the mountain you shall live.
Here you will rest, but never find peace
 Tiril liril lilil haugjen min
and they played so lightly through the grove
 Tiril liril lilil haugjen min
and she calls so softly in the wind
