D9: Kyoto

Temples and wonders... click on lire la suite for more

As in Tokyo, I won't visit everything. There are too many temples and shrines and museums and it takes time but I want at least see the Golden Pavillon and the Silver Pavillon as well.

The 1 day bus pass is certainly the best and cheapest way to go from one temple to an other and of course, there's a bus stop just in front of each of them.
My first stop: Kinkaku-ji  (the Golden Pavillon). This house is covered with gold and is the most popular building of Rokuon-ji temple. Kinkaku-ji was originally the villa of the Saionji Kintsune, a central figure in the Imperial court in 1220.
I thought I would spend hours there but I'm very surprised and desappointed to see how small it is. In fact, just a small part of the garden is open to visitors. But eventhough it's small it doesn't mean that it's not beautiful. Actually it is marvellous and breathtaking.

One other wonder in Kyoto is Ginkakuji temple (the Silver Pavillon). The official name of this temple is Jisho-ji temple and was built in 1474. The plan was to cover it  with silver (as the Golden Pavillon with gold ) but the covering has never been placed: a silver pavillon without silver. The building itself is not really lovely but the garden is a beauty.

I 've also a look at Daitoku-ji temple,Honen-in temple and have a walk in the park and garden around. My last visit: the Imperial Palace garden.
